Students took to the field to explore all things careers in elite sports at Supersport on Friday.

With the help of STK Education and Holmesglen, female students discovered the intersections between sport, data analytics, technology and media.

Students participated in an AFL nines rotation where they wore Catapult devices. They worked hard on the field and were then able to analyse their own data from the devices. Through the Catapult software, students viewed their performance statistics, such as distance, power and speed.

Another activity of the day saw students visit the Danny Frawley Centre to explore the impact of innovative technology on football. Led by the STK Education team, this session allowed students to ideate what technology they predict could be a part of sports in the future. Students unpacked what technology currently exists in the game, discussed what they would keep and remove in sports today, and used this to inform their future invention ideas.

In the afternoon, students revisited their data analysis and combined this information with a sports media task. They first unpacked course options at Holmesglen in the sports media space and then built their own social media posts for specific sports media scenarios. They got creative, tailoring their content to audiences such as sponsors and fans and producing some engaging content designs.

The energy of Supersport is undeniable. Students laugh, share, actively participate, and learn what is possible in the elite sporting industry.

What a great way to celebrate IWD 2025!
