Career Launchpad: Clean Economy

Our largest Industry Immersion event ever connected industry professionals with the next generation of clean economy champions.

Last Friday, the team at MTS, alongside Monash University, Office of the DVC and SVP (Enterprise and Engagement), delivered Career Launchpad: Clean Economy. The energy and enthusiasm of the event filled the campus with 120 students facilitating short interviews with 48 industry professionals supporting the transition to a clean economy.

The event kicked off with an opening address delivered by Associate Professor Susie Ho, the Director of Enterprise Immersion Education and Monash University’s delegate at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference. Susie spoke about the importance of transitioning to a clean economy and the current demand for green careers. The speech was encouraging and insightful, perfectly setting the tone for the interviews to begin.

Students took the lead in the session, asking each professional their own insightful questions about their respective industry, career journey, and ways they are working towards the transition to a clean economy. Every 5 minutes, students moved to a new table with another industry professional, which allowed them to discuss all things clean economy with 14 different professionals from a vast range of industries.

Industry professionals attended from multiple different organisations such as Clean Energy Council, the SEC Victoria, Suburban Rail Loop Authority, GJK Facility Services, Port Phillip EcoCentre, the United Nations Environment Programme, various Monash University Faculties, and many more. The range of organisations and industries represented allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of how different sectors are working to positively impact our future.

A morning tea and course fair followed the event, with students and industry networking and exploring the different course options available in the sector through Monash University and Holmesglen Institute.

We are very grateful to all of our attending schools, academics and industry professionals for bringing this valuable event to life.
